"Broadening Horizons: South London Speaks"

"Broadening Horizons: South London Speaks"

A collection of short films produced by the artists from Action Space's South London Young People's Group.

These films were produced as part of a six-month film project funded by Mediabox - a government initiative offering young people the opportunity to create their own media projects and, by doing so, to gain new skills, express themselves and get their voices heard. Over the course of the project the young people from Action Space's South London and North London Young People's Groups acquired a range of film making skills and produced a collection of short films which document their lives as young people living in London today.

A screening event took place at BFI Southbank Centre and was attended by the young people and their families.

Response to the films was overwhelmingly positive...

"It was amazing!"

"Moving, life-giving, up lifting..."

"Very enjoyable and revealing about people's inner feelings"

"Really powerful work and well-told.. deserves a wider audience."

"Magical pieces of filmmaking. I liked the visual style of the South London group and hearing about the hopes and dreams of the North London group."

"Congratulations to all on this remarkable set of films. I was so impressed by the professionalism, the humour, the creativity - and the extraordinary insights into the lives of these young people!"

"Brilliant and imaginative!"
