'diversion' - the artwork

From 6-18 October 2009, 10 bus shelters along the 37 bus route became exhibition spaces for artwork by Action Space's Wandsworth studio artists.

Action Space’s Wandsworth studio artists were commissioned to create ten site-specific artworks to be exhibited as posters on bus shelters along the 37 bus route, from Clapham Common to Putney Heath. The exhibition entitled 'diversion' ran for two weeks in October 2009 as part of Wandworth Artists' Open House ’09 and The Big Draw.

The ‘diversion’ project was an exciting partnership between Action Space, Wandsworth Arts Team, London Buses and Clear Channel Outdoor, who generously provided the bus shelter poster sites.

"Never has the prospect of waiting for a bus been so appealing! Wandsworth Arts Team are delighted to be working on this project with Action Space. A true partnership project it benefits both us and Action Space. Not only does it showcase the exceptional work that comes from Action Space - it is also a great way for us to promote the work of artists in the borough as part of Wandsworth Artist Open House '09. " Helen Renwick, Arts Manager, Wandsworth Council
